Bay Street law firm launches social media campaign

Aims to attract Generation Y law students

Toronto law firm Thomson, Rogers is reaching the next generation of lawyers in a way they can relate to – with social networking initiatives like YouTube videos, and through Twitter.

The first two videos in a four-part series targeting law students and potential clients have been posted online just as Canadian law students are heading back to school.

“Video is part of the evolving web world for law firm marketing, and Thomson, Rogers, with the help of Law Times, is part of it” says Joseph Pileggi, Director of Client Services.

Produced in conjunction with Law Times newspaper and its video production division, V2B Studio, each of the videos presents the firm from a distinctly different angle; all feature real life Thomson, Rogers lawyers and support staff in a variety of scenes.

The first video in the series, titled “It’s Why I’m Here”, takes a look at the firm through the eyes of some of its younger associates – people who articled with Thomson, Rogers and who can speak to the experience.

“With a focus on the culture, the values and the people, this video demonstrates why Thomson, Rogers is a great place to work,” says Pileggi.

The second video, “Here’s Where You Fit In” features a variety of Thomson, Rogers associates and partners offering practical tips on how to prepare for an articling student interview.  “Members of the interview team – people who review the resumes and conduct the interviews – show how students can make a good impression,” says Pileggi.

Both videos are now posted at www.litigationstudent.com, the recruitment section of www.thomsonrogers.com, in addition to YouTube, and Canadian Lawyer magazine’s 4Students website and Facebook page. Thomson, Rogers is also using Twitter to promote the videos as they are released.

The next two videos in the series will be posted later this month and help position Thomson, Rogers as the go to litigation firm in its practice areas.
